Swedish Defence Forces swap an Ikv 91 for a Daimler Ferret Mk2
The Swedish connection to Daimler Ferret is that this type was used by Swedish UN-troops serving on Cyprus.
Ikv 91 no 204694 en-route to Gothenburg
The transport organisation of SFHM was given the task to transport the Ikv to, and the Ferret from Gothenburg Port. At 0500 hours the journey started in Strangnas where the Ikv had been temporarily stored while waiting for the exchange to take place.
Ikv 91 on the Volvo N12 and trailer
Shortly after lunch we could coast into the port after having completed the necessary forms. The Ikv was offloaded on the designated spot and the Ferret was located.
Ikv 91 parked between a Volvo and a Scania, both somewhat younger...
Ferret Mk 2 found in the port of Gothenburg
Since nowadays the Swedish Defence Forces are not supposed to actively display historical objects to the public, the Ferret will be owned by SFHM. The ambition is to display it in conjunction with the permanent display at the Army Museum about UN Service, which will open in spring 2009.
Driving it onto the trailer...
...keep driving!
Ready to go!
On the road northeastwards...
...back home at last!
Plans are to display the new acquisition at the Army Museum in Stockholm.
