Bandvagn – Universal Carrier Mk 1

The Carrier was conceived by Vickers-Armstrong in 1934 as an armoured scout vehicle with a light machine gun. It was initially built in a variety of models, but after the onset of WWII, only a standard ”Universal” model was produced by factories in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
After the war, Sweden bought two Carriers for trials as artillery tractors. None of them is preserved. The museum vehicle has an unclear history.
