M1151A1 HMMWV, “Humvee”

This is a modern successor to the famous Jeep that was developed during World War II. The purpose was to replace all older off-road vehicles in the US Armed Forces and the first version that came in 1984 was an unarmoured off-road vehicle that had both open and covered versions. The efforts in Somalia and Iraq during the 1990s placed higher demands on the safety of the soldiers, and in 2004 a modification program was introduced in which the cars were fitted with an armor shell that increased the weight by about 450 kg.
HMMWV has been exported to about 70 countries, but it has not been used by the Swedish
defense.
This particular model with manufacture year in 2010 has been used by Czech forces in Afghanistan and came to Sweden in the summer of 2015 through an exchange with the Czech Museum in Lesany south of Prague.
